Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I share my experiences in the outdoors and maybe some knowledge along the way.

EDC bag items

In this top 5 I will break down my favorite items in my every day carry bag. This will based on the items I use the items I use the most often and find the most convenient to have around. The bag I carry is the 5.11 rush MOAB 10 and you can find my review here. Most of the time I just keep this bag in my truck if I’m going to work, class or out of town. I will be doing a quick run through of everything in my EDC bag in the future, but if you just want to know my thoughts on the bag feel free to click the link from earlier. Lets get started.

1.       The first item that I use the most in my EDC bag is a notepad. It is just a small black book notepad that I got from Barnes & noble. I’ve used for everything from grocery list to writing down content ideas. Basically if I have a thought I want to remember I write it down on the notepad because I will forget if I don’t.

2.       The second is two items that I’m going to combine into one, being a backup pocket knife and multi-tool. The multi-tool is a Leatherman Wingman, it has eight different options but mostly I use it for the pliers, scissors and Phillips head screwdriver. It is handy to have everywhere I go and being able to throw it in my bag and not have to carry it in my pocket really saves me space. The back up knife I carry is a basic SOG fielder, the main reason I put this knife in my bag is because the pocket clip came off and it is easier to keep in there. Also it is my opinion that you can never have too many knives.

3.       The third item I use the most in my bag is a Bell and Howell Tac light flashlight. The light is nice to have for when I need a more permanent light outside of the small one I carry in my pocket. It has a few different settings that include, constant, strobe and momentary. It runs on three AAA batteries and is supposedly indestructible, even though I haven’t tested the theory. All around it does everything I need it to and I have lit up buildings on my college campus from a few blocks away.

4.       The fourth item is the first aid kit from survival ware. I keep it strapped to the MOLLLE on the front of my bag so I don’t have to dig for it when I need it. It has everything you would need for basic everyday injuries, think scraps and cuts, and then some for more extreme cases of trauma with wraps and open wound closures. Also it comes with a CPR mask, trauma shears, and tweezers, honestly a lot of important medical care items that come in a fairly small kit. In my bag I also have a tourniquet from recon medical. I have had training on how to use everything in my first aid kit and encourage everyone else to learn basic medical care themselves. Also check out the top 5 items for you medical kit I did in a different top 5 blog.

5.       The last item that I use a lot is one I use a lot more than I thought I ever would. It is a knife sharpener, flat stone, that is tucked away in a pen like holder. It is nice to have when I’m sitting killing time and want to sharpen my carry knife or my backup knife. I don’t remember the brand of it but I do remember buying it from Scheels, but I’m sure any place that sells knives has a similar product. It is easy to use, you just unscrew the cap and flip it to the flat stone side for sharpening and it does a pretty good job for what it is. The sharpener tucks away nice and doesn’t take up a lot of room making it well worth keeping in my EDC bag.
